Merle ‘Micki’ Warner

Wednesday, March 3, 2010

Merle “Micki” Warner, 78, of Delaware, passed away Wednesday evening (Feb. 24, 2010), at the Sarah Moore Nursing Care Center surrounded by her family.

She was born Sept. 23, 1931 in Suffern, N.Y. to Willis and Elda Fulton. She was a six-year resident of Delaware, a member of St Mark’s Lutheran Church and lived much of her life in the Worthington area, where she was active in the Worthington Women’s Golf League and a local senior citizens group. She was an avid reader, loved being a Grandma and enjoyed golf, tennis, sewing and gardening.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Jack; two sons, Derek (Lisa) and Doug (Chris); a daughter, Donna (David) Pickering; four grandchildren, Deonna Bryn Sekikawa, Garrett, Bradley and Christina Warner; and a sister-in-law, Shirley Fulton.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Don.

A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 6 at the Rodman Neeper Funeral Home, 1510 W. William St., Delaware. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until service time. The ladies of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church will host a reception following the Rev. Bruce Quatman’s service.

In keeping with Micki’s attitude toward charities, it would be appropriate to contribute to a charity of the donor’s choice that “lives on and does good for humanity.” Suggestions for alternate choices of a charity would include Delaware County Habitat for Humanity, 305 Curtis St., Delaware; Stratford Ecological Center, 3086 Liberty Road, Delaware; and People In Need, Inc. of Delaware County, 274 N. Sandusky St., Delaware.
