Dorsey E. ‘Luke’ Lucas

Dorsey E. “Luke” Lucas, 79, of Sunbury died Monday morning (March 8, 2010) at St. Ann’s Hospital in Westerville.

He was born on Aug. 26, 1930 in Bingaman, W.V. to the late Guy and Lenora (Robinson) Lucas. A resident of the Sunbury area since 1964, he was a lifelong foundry man and retired as production manager for General Castings of Delaware in 2001. A friend to all, he was very sociable and talkative in nature. He enjoyed hunting deer and camping. Most proud of his children and grandchildren, he was happiest at work in his wood shop building crafts and trinkets of all types.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Betty L. (Gump); daughters, Carolyn Coder of Sunbury and Sandy (Robert) Stepp of Howard; sons, Ron (Dawn) Lucas of Sunbury and Rick (Brenda) Lucas of Delaware; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, Donald and Larry Lucas; and sisters, Janice (Joseph) Cecil, Wanda (Henry) Shoupe and Linda (Gary) Jordan.

He was preceded in death by sisters, Betty Goff, Louise Feathers and Wilma Holcomb; and brother, Robert.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Ohio 3 at Ohio 61, Sunbury, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday with interment in Trenton Cemetery.
